Hybrid Solar Eclipse

A hybrid eclipse of the Sun is a rare celestial event resulting from the Earth's curvature and the Moon's distance from the Earth. It occurs when an eclipse transitions between total and annular phases along its path. 

At the beginning of a hybrid eclipse, the Moon covers most of the Sun, leaving only a ring or annulus of the Sun's outer edge visible. As the eclipse progresses, the Moon moves in its orbit, and the curvature of the Earth's surface comes into play. This curvature causes the observer's location to move slightly closer to the Moon. As a result, the eclipse transforms into a total eclipse where the Moon completely covers the solar disk, casting a shadow that can be seen as total darkness within a specific path on Earth. 

Hybrid eclipses are relatively rare compared to other types of solar eclipses. They offer a fascinating astronomical spectacle for those fortunate enough to witness them from the right location along the eclipse's path.
