Onyango
One of the Luo naming schemes (time of the day) that is actually derived from 'nyango' which referes to mid morning esp. when peaople bask in the sun to nourish their skin with vitamin D. (9am ~ 11am). The 'O' prefix before the time of the day refers to a male born while for the female, a prefix 'A' is used. Other examples of names after times of the day include:
1. Osirawende->A man born in early dawn.
2. Okinyi/Akinyi ->Born in the morning
3. Onyango/Anyango-> born in mid morning
4. Ochieng'/ Achieng'-> born when the sun is strong (12pm ~ 3pm)
5. Odhiambo/Adhiambo-> born in the evining
6. Otieno/Atieno->born at night
7. Oduor ->born at midnight hours
