Annual celebration of the Abasuba people's culture
A two-day celebration of the Suba culture on Rusinga Island.
A two-day celebration aimed at preserving the endangered culture of the Abasuba people who mainly inhabit Rusinga Island and Mfangano Island on Lake Victoria. The festival was founded by Anne Eboso and is administered through Chula Cultural Foundation. The Suba language is listed by UNESCO as one of thirteen endangered languages in Kenya. The festival addresses various community issues including health, education, and cultural preservation while featuring traditional sports, music, and cuisine.
