A two-week festival celebrating the annual flooding of the Nile River. Though the High Dam has ended the annual flood, the holiday continues to celebrate the Nile's importance to Egyptian culture and agriculture. Historically known as 'The Night of the Tear Drop', referring to the legend of Isis's tears for Osiris causing the flood.
