Temacine Language

Temacine also known as Tamazight or Oued righ berber or Tugurt is a severely endangered language spoken in Témacine District, in Touggourt Province, Algeria. by the Oued Righ Berber,Temacine Tamazight people.

It belongs to the Zenati Berber group of languages .

Temacine language has approximately 21,000 native speakers.

A person who speaks Temacine is known as tamacine.

The language has 1 dialects; Zenati Berber.

Note: The sounds a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y and z do not occur in Temacine language.

The Tamacine also commonly known as Oued Righ Berber ,tamazight  Tamazight, is a part of the larger Zenati Berber variety of algeria.As early as the 19th century the Tamacine were widely known desert farmers.Their date palm farms extend in the oases of Touggourt province in the saharan desert of Algeria.They also grow plums,grapes, olives, figs besides keeping livestock particularly camels,goats and sheep.

The Tamacine also have vibrant embroidery skills and are good in knitting,jewelery and pottery.
