Isoko Language

Isoko is a language spoken in Isoko South and North, and part of Ndokwa East Local Government Areas (LGA) of Delta State, Sagbama LGA of Bayelsa State and Orhionmwon LGA in Edo State, in Nigeria by the Isoko people.

It belongs to the Edoid group of languages which also includes Etsako, Okpe, Ososo and Urhobo languages.

Isoko language has approximately 800,000 native speakers.

The language has 22 dialects; Ozoro, Ofagbe, Emede, Owe, Elu, Aviara, Iyede, Imiv, Enhwe, Ume, Iwire, Ole, Ire, Uzere, Oyede, Iyowo, Uti, Ibiede, Itebiege, Unogboko, Olomoro and Iyede-Ami.
