SAS Makhanda

SAS Makhanda (F146) is a Valour-class frigate commissioned by the South African Navy in 2004. Built by the European South African Corvette Consortium, the vessel was commissioned specifically for South Africa and is owned and operated by the South African government. It is one of four Valour-class frigates designed to enhance South Africa's naval capabilities, particularly in maritime security, anti-submarine warfare, and surface combat. The ship regularly patrols the South Atlantic Ocean and adjacent waters, safeguarding South African maritime interests and participating in multinational exercises.
