Maasai Language

Maasai is a language spoken in Central and Southern Kenya and Northern Tanzania by the Maasai people.

It belongs to the Maa group of languages which also includes Samburu and Ngasa languages.

Maasai language has approximately 4,000,000 native speakers.

The language has 2 dialects; Northern Maa and Southern Maa.

Note: The sounds f, q, w, x and z do not occur in Maasai language.

Maa languages are closely related to the Dinka, Nuer and Lutoko languages spoken in Southern Sudan.
