Kumam Language

Kumam also known as Akokolemu or Akum or Ikokolemu or Ikumama or Kuman or Kumum is a language spoken in Kaberamaido, Soroti and Dokolo districts in Uganda by the Kumam people.

It belongs to the Ateker group of languages which also includes Teso, Turkana, Lango, Nyangatom and Toposa languages.

Kumam language has approximately 500,000 native speakers.

Note: The sounds f, h, q, w, x and z do not occur in Kumam language.
